Become An Ordained Minister And Start Your Own Church

If you have ever thought about becoming an ordained minister but just did not know how then I have some good news for you. You can be ordained for free by any number of Internet churches.

Internet churches have been ordaining people from around the world for many years now and lots of people have gone on to start their own small church or ministry.

As an ordained minister you can perform all of the duties of the pastor of your own church.

You will be able to officiate wedding ceremonies, attend funerals and help the grieving families, baptize new members of your church, and every other function that your church group decides to use in your services.

There are many more ministries that you can start and organize to go out into the world and help others. Some new pastors start music ministries, prison visits, visits to the elderly, the homeless, a mission style shelter, and much more, it is totally up to you.

Many of the online organizations that will ordain you will not dictate to your congregation what kind of services to hold. I would suggest that you should probably have some sort of literature that you use as a guideline such as the Bible, Koran, or any other sources of inspiration for your new church group.

Again, what you choose to believe and how you choose to follow those beliefs are totally up to you. This is part of the religious freedom you can find on the Internet as long as you pursue your calling by doing that which is right.

If you would like to learn more about starting your own church please visit: http://www.ulcradio.com and learn about other ordained ministers in the ULC.

Matthew Maiden is the host of The ULC Radio Program and would like you to give a listen to the show.

Santa Barbara - In Praise of Barbara Organ, Mentor and Friend

I have a small plastic statue of Mary Regina Cli (Queen of Heaven) above my kitchen sink. To my non-religious friends, this is (a) cute but quaint. To my Catholic friends, this is (b) as it should be. To my devout Protestant friends, this is (c) "Heh!?" The correct answer is (d) a reminder of Dr. Barbara Organ - a devout Catholic who taught me a course in Biblical Hermeneutics that gave me a fresh and undying appreciation of both Hebrew and Christian scripture - but mostly the Jewish canon.

Up until I took a Masters level course with her, I confess, I had fallen into a liberal Protestant rut of seeing Hebrew Scripture aka the Old Testament as a bloody but necessary prelude to Jesus the Christ. Mon Dieu - one class with her was enough to knock me out of my "Mary rejoicing" complacency to the "Rachel weeping" reality of the Slaughter of the Innocents by King Herod in zero CE.

Barbara loved Hebrew scripture. The story of the creation of the world according to Genesis would have been enough material for an entire course for her. As it was, we spent an entire evening on one verse and we felt by the end of the class that we too had only just begun. And how would I have ever known that the story of Ruth was really the story of Naomi and her great grandson - without Dr. Organ's passion for the story within the story.

And Jonah!? I had loved the story as a child in Sunday School and as an adult watching the Veggie Tales version - but no one else had ever brought it home to me that the real story was about a God who loved and desired to redeem all - regardless of their religious predilection, or lack thereof.

Barbara had a very special place in her heart for the Virgin Mary. She led us through the first chapter of the Gospel according to Matthew and pointed out to us the seemingly wayward girls of the Bible - Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and Bathsheba - the great grandmothers of Jesus of Nazareth. Mary during her time would have been whispered about too. Only after taking her course did I hear a radical protestant Bible teacher, Dr. James MacDonald, extol the virtues of Mary in a way that I had never heard before in the fundamentalist tradition.

But first and foremost Barbara was a devout Christian - a believer in and follower of Jesus. I remember her describing a workshop she had been at where a woman was to play the part of a person who had been stooped from birth until Jesus touched her. After the presentation the woman told the group that in actual fact she had been unable, once she had assumed that posture, to rise until the person who played Jesus touched her and helped her into a standing pose. Barbara's spirit bubbled over when she recounted this to her class. Who could ever accuse Dr. Organ of being anything but the Real Thing!?

Dr. Barbara Organ, author of a number of articles and books including "Judaism for Gentiles," died of Lou Gehrig's disease on Sunday, August 6, 2006 Anno Domini at the age of 64 years. I think all of Christendom and Jewry should weep. The Ursuline Order, of which she was a member, has as its mission statement: "We are always ready to approach life from a fresh perspective, to change according to the needs and circumstances of the times." They are devoted to those things that are near and dear to the heart of God - the poor, women in poverty, and God's creation as lovingly described in the first chapter of Genesis.

St. Barbara in the Catholic Church is the patron saint in times of danger from thunderstorms and fire. Given her love for Israel and the Middle East, I think she was well-named. Lekhayim far sholem (a toast for peace) dear Barbara, Lekhayim!

Finding a Mentor in the 21st Century

Traditionally, mentors volunteer the wisdom of their experiences to help others who wanted to follow in their footsteps. These days, many people have learned to appreciate the value of a good mentor.

Therefore, we see messages on discussion boards asking, "Would someone be
willing to mentor me?" Total strangers call, asking, "Will you be my mentor?"

You may get lucky. You begin a series of one-to-one conversations with someone
you respect. Soon, the relationship has evolved into full-scale, helpful mentoring,
with no effort on your part and no fees to pay.

However, you may find yourself paying in other ways. Mentors sometimes seek
rewards not from money but from the satisfaction of seeing their protegs
("mentees") flourish.

They may become frustrated because, "You're moving too slowly!" or, "You're not
following my suggestions!" And they may be reluctant to see you fly off on your
own.

Regardless, just because someone's been successful doesn't mean she's the right
mentor for you. Many resources are better at teaching than doing and vice versa.
Some of the most successful professionals cannot articulate why they achieved so
much and the path they followed may be closed to you.

Before you begin your search, ask, "What do I want from a mentor? Information?
Moral support? Ongoing encouragement? And can I obtain these benefits by paying
a coach or consultant? If I stumble across a mentor, will she be able to provide these
benefits in a helpful way?"

And are you prepared to be a good mentee? Will you listen carefully, act on advice
(or be prepared to explain why you won't), and express appreciation to your
mentor? Will you avoid making unreasonable demands?

These days, mentoring tends to come with a price tag, and the service may be
labeled "consulting," "coaching," or even "counseling." For example:

"Mervin" wanted to open a retail toy store. "Gwen" had found success with a
similar store in a nearby town that resembled his own. Mervin offered to pay Gwen a
thousand dollars to learn the business. Gwen accepted. Mervin now has his own
successful store and he remains friends with Gwen.

"Hilary" wanted to set up a life coaching business. She found experts who would
not be competitors and paid them for mentoring. There was a fine line, she says,
between coaching and mentoring, and she paid the equivalent of coaching fees.

"Reginald" found a mentoring service that charged a monthly $200 fee, giving
him access to experts who normally charged $500-$1000 per session.

These stories exemplify the New Mentoring, usually more effective than asking for
help from strangers. A proactive approach allows you to identify the service you
need, assess the would-be mentor's ability to deliver that service, begin and end
when you choose, and avoid hidden costs. Focus on the benefits you receive,
regardless of the label, and these days, be prepared to pay the going rate.

Repentance in the Attic

Ah, summer. For the educator it often means several weeks of re-grouping and of course lots of extra chores around the house. One of these is most certainly going to be cleaning the attic. While up there yesterday, I ran across a copy of a sermon of Spurgeon about lukewarmness. Spurgeon is always trouble for the flesh. A message on this topic could cancel a lot of plans.

I was awake early this morning. Not wanting to go to my regular prayer place and awaken my wife, I decided to read the Spurgeon message first thing while I was in bed. Oh my. The letter to the Laodiceans could have had my name on it. How easily we let the world poison our walk with God. What a dangerous place is America for a saint aspiring to a separated holy walk. There were two things I knew I had to do.

My wife and I had re-subscribed to Netflix because of their large array of Bible-based movies. Now, you can read the Bible's version of the Samson story and not think anything evil inside. But Hollywood's version is not that harmless. The movies were not edifying us and we knew it. Good-bye Netflix.

Then the TV itself. I've struggled with it all my life. I've destroyed TV's, sent them packing in the garbage can where they belong, "sworn them off." I had a problem like that with sugar until one day many years ago I just said to the Lord, "I won't partake of processed sugar for the rest of this life. Period." God has given me grace to keep that vow nearly perfectly, when he saw I was serious about it.

Today, TV has just gone the way of sugar in my life, and I give Him the glory. I promised Him I will not watch TV alone, I won't watch network TV ever, movies, all the rest. The only thing I will allow before my eyes on that TV is a video about North Korea or some such ministry. Even "Christian" TV does not offer the blessing that it ought. I'll read the Word and worship alone before I will a "star" to guide me.

I put this all in writing to strengthen further my vow but also to suggest to all of you that TV, especially today, is not a necessary commodity. The news is more thorough on the Internet. TV "entertainment", whether drama or music or comedy is done by men and women that most of you would not have in your home. Why should they get to talk to you, but you don't get to talk to them? And sports? How does the saint justify all those hours given to watching men win an earthly prize?

But I must be careful not to judge. It has taken me so long to get here. And I have introduced my entire family and precious saints to this worldly waste. May God have mercy on me for all the hours given over to things that just do not matter. Lately I have not watched much but I've noticed that even the little I do experience brings down my defenses, and my desire to please God.

I am confident that my life is going to be fuller and richer now. Hey, I have not missed sugar. Nature has a lot of sweet things. I will not miss television. God has a greater vision waiting for all those of His who will seek Him with the whole heart.

Hoping To Enter Heaven

North Korea - What's Going On?

Are things getting any better in North Korea? Yes, in some ways. But we're not ready for a "Weight Watchers" program there yet. The crisis is far from past.

The Amnesty International Report of 2005 cites the following human rights situation in Chosun. Always remember that what is happening to the population at large is happening to your Christ-filled brothers and sisters too. You'll soon see it is no time to stop praying for them.

My condensation of the report:

  • Public executions continue. Those who proselyte or practice in the underground church are some of the victims of these executions.
  • Anyone seen to be in disagreement with the government faces severe punishments.
  • Access to international media denied to most citizens. TV and radio receivers are set to government channels.
  • Reporters who so much as misspell a senior executive's name can be punished.
  • Christians, just because they are Christians, can be put in labor camps.
  • In the prison camps, torture is common.
  • Prisoners found communicating can be beaten with iron bars.
  • Cold water, even in freezing weather, can be poured on a prisoner or he can be subject to forced intake of water.
  • Repatriated refugees (sent back from China when caught) have been imprisoned, tortured, and/or executed.
  • Even children who are caught and returned are considered criminals, not victims.
  • 10-11 million still do not have enough to eat.
  • 6.5 million are chronically malnourished.
  • Food rations actually declined from 2003 to 2005. There was enough being given out in '03 to give every person 319 grams of food per day. That shrunk to 250 grams in '05.
  • Food can be bought at privatized markets, but the cost is many times higher than the government issue. Many urban families spend up to 85% of their income on food.
  • The number of children whose growth has been stunted from malnutrition lessened from 42% in 2002 to 37% in 2005.
  • Acute malnutrition is down from 9 to 7 percent.
  • Underweight children aged 1-6 has risen by 2% .
  • One third of NK's moms are malnourished.
  • There have been alarming reports about increases of maternal mortality rates. No numbers given.
  • Lack of access to clean drinking water and poor sanitation continue.

The question always comes back to the richest and most prosperous believers on the planet at present: What shall we do? My answers are still forming for me and my house. Present activities combined with some future plans respond to this huge need. Perhaps God will speak a plan into your life? What if tens of thousands of God's people responded, and showed the world what Christ does when people hurt?

http://chosunhouse.com is a website I put together a few months back to get the word out to believers that they need to pray for North Korea. Just about every day I'm writing a blog featuring some news, a book, or a story of North Korea. There's a live news feed on the site, lists of resources, picture essays, and ways to respond to the overwhelming need in North Korea. Let's love Chosun together!

The Story of Chosun, Part 1

They say all of history is "His story." I agree with them. As I begin with you today an accounting of some of the major moments in Korea's past, I offer the accompanying encouragement that what I shall be sharing is not just the past. You will see how Korea was shaped and eventually prepared for the call of God on her life. Yes, the Gospel finally came to that land, and has produced in the South a harvest unimaginable.

But it took a long time for the Koreans to see their need and to reach out for something better than they had. Because of that long refusal and/or ignorance of the Good News, the pattern of independence followed by attacks and foreign domination and independence again, clung to this nation for thousands of years. Homer Hulbert, who will be our guide through most of this history, lived in the 19th - and wrote at the beginning of the 20th - century:

"Hulbert saw that Koreans of the nineteenth century were held captive by a small elite group of aristocratic bureaucrats whose vested interests lay in maintaining government by intrigue and corruption and in keeping the people as isolated as possible from the egalitarian influences of the West..."

That was true then, it was true through much of her history, and even to this day, a portion of the peninsula is dominated by an oligarchy. This particular dynasty of our day represents a foreign power. It is an alien government, a decidedly non-Korean turn of events. But all of that in good time.

For now, let's go back to the beginning, as far as we can anyway. Using Hulbert's classic 2-volume set, History of Korea, 1905, we begin.

PART I: ANCIENT HISTORY. 2322 BC- 892 AD

Legend has it that Korea was founded by a "son of God", God being the creator "Whanung". This was supposed to have happened somewhere between the days of the flood and Abraham. So far we're not as distant from the truth as you might expect. Following the flood account in your Bible is the story of the beginning of nations, especially focusing on one Nimrod, the real man behind all the myths of ancient peoples. Korea's mythological wonder man is "Tan-gun." Tan-gun was born when Whanung breathed upon a woman who wanted a son. That sounds pretty Biblical too. (Did I mention that the woman had once been a bear?)

It is not Seoul but Pyongyang that is Korea's first capital. Today this city is North Korea's number one place. Tan-gun reigns there until about 1122 BC, around the time of the judges of Israel, then disappears from the earth. If long lives trouble you, remember that our Bible has a Methuselah.

The word "chosun" arises during this period. "Land of morning calm" will be the idea attached to the Korean peninsula. And it probably had its calm moments. But the name, historically, is as meaningful as Jerusalem, "city of peace." It's a great idea, and in the future the idea will be realized, but for now...

It is from China that Korea is to be given its first major endowments:leadership, poetry, manners, music, medicine, sorcery, silk culture, weaving. And many attempted take-overs.

For the next 1000 years, the area covering the two provinces nearest Pyongyang today is governed by one Kija and his descendants. Kija is the son of Li, who is the 2nd son of Wuyi, Emperor of China in the 1100's BC. Kija first becomes an advisor to Emperor Tajung, known as the "Nero" of China. Kija actually places himself in exile but later is granted permission by the Chinese government to set up a kingdom on the nearby peninsula. It is independent of China, yet China seems to have regretted the decision at times, and tries to bring it under its control. All these attempts are rebuffed by the growing people group in Chosun.

This Kija kingdom is the first recognizable dynasty. One dynasty will follow the other in Korea until South Korea forms a republic in the mid 20th century. The world is hoping for the end of dynasties altogether in Korea. Somehow the word hasn't gotten up North that dynastic power is not the most efficient way to deal with 21st century citizens.

That's where you and I can come in and change Korea's history. Heart-felt, gut-involved, loud persistent knocking on the door of Heaven. Jesus has let us know that that kind of prayer really does work. Will you join multitudes worldwide in this movement of true liberation?

Difficulties Talking About Religion - Why Can't We Talk About Religion?

Why do people find it difficult to talk about religion? Have you ever heard the saying that there's three things you don't talk about. Religion, politics and other people. I have spent my whole life talking to people about all three of these topics and will continue to do so, because I find religion, politics and people extremely fascinating.

I rarely encounter an individual who would like to speak about religion, but I often, seem to worm a couple of tidbits of information from them. When I speak to someone, I do my best not to make any one feel uncomfortable, because of their religious or spiritual beliefs. This only causes frustration between us and will not get us anywhere.

I did not learn this lesson early but now have it securely fastened into my mind. Hopefully I never forget it, to some people it's more important to be right than happy, I want to be happy and give them something to think about.

Some people when talking about religion can become quite animated and start throwing their arms in the air, jumping up and down, yelling and screaming, calling me names and even threatening me. This doesn't make any sense to me, because they're supposed to be compassionate and loving individuals. What's wrong with them, I know there's nothing wrong with me, what could be wrong with them. Just kidding. Isn't this how we think though.

It seems like most people don't have problems talking to other people whom agree with them. You will find very little difficulties talking about religion with others, whom agree wholeheartedly with your thinking. The difficulties arise when someone brings a topic into the conversation that becomes offensive, because they either don't understand it or have been taught to believe something different about it.

The difficulties talking about other religions or spiritual beliefs, will probably always cause friction, until we start taking some time to understand where they are coming from. If you have somebody that upsets you, when speaking about their religion or spiritual beliefs, I have something I would like you to try the next time you see them.

Try to spend some time finding common ground, ask them about their religious or spiritual beliefs. Gather some information and try to understand, "Where Their Coming From". This could lead you to a better understanding about them and possibly learn something about yourself.

Christianity on Its Last Wave; So Wave Goodbye

Have you been watching the increase in Christianity in the United States of America? Well, this is interesting because recently on a trip to England I found most people had totally dismissed Christianity and many are adopting a more Jeti Religion approach to things; Let the Force be With You.

Pretty cool stuff if you ask me and it sure makes a lot of sense and why not make a religion out of science anyway, as it is pretty hard to refute it all and the evidence is all easily available. Does this mean that Christianity on Its Last Wave in the UK? Yes, pretty much that is what it means and it will be gone soon.

So Wave Goodbye to Christianity many of the social science professors are now saying and I bet we get a paradigm shift in the United States as well, as our scientists leave the storyline of religion, all religion, not just Christianity far behind. Some say the story of Baby Jesus and rising from the dead really does not pass the smell test of known science and seems a little bit of a fairytale as well?

Indeed it does sound like that. Nevertheless the recent increase in Christianity swung the pendulum too far out of sync with reality and so this is most likely the last hoorah and the end of Christianity, as we know it. Is that a bad thing? Hard to say, humans seem to like some sort of religion, yet perhaps no religion or a more reasonable one makes the most sense? Consider this in 2006.

Following The Old Religious Text - Religion

Most people tend to bury their head in the sand when it comes to problems with their family, community, job, government and of course religious beliefs. They don't want to hear the truth and often they can't see the truth. I have read many religious text, books and other literature, missing some very important parts and only when I reread the information, did I find what I have missed. Sometimes I have needed to read or listen to the same information over 30 times, before it becomes somewhat clear to me.

Most religions are living in the dark ages. From what I gather, Hinduism is over 4000 years old, Judaism is around 2500 years old, Christianity is 2000 years old and Islam is about 1400 years old. People are following information today that isn't necessarily applicable to modern times but often religious leaders can twist it around, add some verbiage, make a semi-educated judgment and now we have something we can follow. It just doesn't make sense.

Why do we put so much faith in religious books like the Bible, Torah, Bhagavad-Gita and Quran, when these books cannot be proven and often have many mistakes and errors. I know people that open these books very carefully and treat them like they are made from solid gold. They are books like any others but often people live their lives from the information inside, strictly and religiously. Often never straying from their beliefs, even though they're outdated and hard to follow.

Let me get to the bottom line here, have you researched your religion and if you have, do you have any questions that can't be answered? Do you read any of the religious text and often wonder or think to yourself, this doesn't seem to make sense, because you just read something else that was contradicting the last statement.

You can handle the truth about your religion. By reading this article, it tells me that you're on the Internet, can you go to a search engine and type in Bible contradictions, Torah contradictions, or whatever your beliefs are. I was searching for errors in the Bible and came upon a couple of pretty good web sites.

Use words like contradiction, problems, errors and see what websites you come up with.

Seek the wisdom and the truth shall set you free.

Education Leads To Success

Spiritual Humor In Religion - Read This It's Funny

Well you probably heard of the problems that some people get into when they drink a little too much and start to drive their cars. This is known as drinking and driving irresponsibly and can be hazardous to your health but more hazardous to your pocketbook. Overdosing on drugs, spending too much money shopping, gambling excessively and last but not least, spending too much time at your place of worship can be hazardous to others. Over time, our loved ones seem to suffer the most from our excesses.

I suggest most people use religion responsibly and try not to overindulge in the excesses of your spiritual practice. Like an alcoholic drinking until they feel good, only to wake up feeling bad the next morning. And then starting the process all over the next day.

Now for the big question, "Are You a Religiousoholic?" Do you spend too much time at church? Do you surround yourself exclusively with people that share your same religious beliefs?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, there's a good chance you're a religiousoholic. Like alcoholics and drug addicts, there is help for you, once you've identified your problem, we can help. We call it our 5 step program. Alcoholics Anonymous has a 12 step program for recovery but we have eliminated a couple and rearranged others in hopes for a faster recovery.

Religionolism is no laughing matter and should be handled with the utmost delicacy. Start with the first step and work your way down the list and within a short period of time you should find yourself free from the religious tyranny of your institutionalized religion.

Step 1. The biggest problem you're going to happen during your recovery will be the temptation from religious followers, wanting you to come back. Like a drug addict, saying no to drugs,it's hard, you're going to have to be strong here. Learn to say no to organized religion and yes to religious freedom.

Step 2. Instead of reading Scripture, start reading about other religions around the world. You will find some weird things and new ideas, but the bottom line here is that you'll be able to see some similarities, and silliness between the religions.

Step 3. You can still spend time praying, just spend more time praying about how grateful you are, instead of praying for something you want, start spending a little more time thanking God for the things in your lives that you already have. I have spent a lot of time praying for things I never got. When I stopped praying for the things, I thought I needed, I started getting the things I really needed.

Step 4. Start spending a little more time believing in yourself, some religions seem to give all the glory and credit to their gods and very little to the people that are actually making the sacrifices. I have also noticed that when something goes wrong, some religious followers tend to punish themselves and it just doesn't seem fair. God gets all the credit when things are good and you blame yourself when things go wrong.

Step 5. Start showing a little more compassion towards people who don't think the same as you do or believe in your religion. Love and compassion are the true acts of a religious believer. I believe you'll find that in every religious scripture... somewhere.

Sometimes we get a little carried away in our beliefs and tend to beat up other people who don't share them with us. If you're part of a religion who discriminates, shows intolerance, bigotry or prejudice to other nonbelievers, maybe this isn't the religion you think it should be.

Believing In Yourself

30 Days To Creating Super Habits

If a Good Muslim Can't Be a Good American, Neither Can a Good Fundamentalist Christian Be One

Recently someone came up with an explanation as to why someone of the Islamic faith cannot possible be a good American. This is in response to that ignorance. The writer asks..

"Can a good Muslim be a good American?" In doing so, he sets himself up for a fall.

"Consider the following:"
And of the Christian Fundamentalist, consider the following as well.

"Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, the moon god of Arabia."

And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Theologically- NO Because his allegiance is to God, the Sun God of Egypt. This is why God is Most High (At Noon), Jesus can be seen as an archetype Son of the Sun God and the Gospels are the account of a one year trip of the Sun Jesus through the signs of the Zodiac, and I ain't kiddn! The origin all gods in the human psyche is the SUN and all that it does for humans. This is why in the Old Testament it says in Malachi that the "sun will rise with healing in his wings," which is statement about the messiah to come. In Revelation, Jesus is also called the "son of the morning star," which of course is the SUN, or the Planet Venus depending. Long story. Don't sweat Allah the moon god.

"Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by his Allah except Islam (Quran, 2:256)"

And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Religiously- NO Because "there is no other name under heaven, (Jesus) by which a man can be saved. There is one true Christian Church and whoever believes on the name of the Lord..Jesus Christ, shall be saved, while others are condemned. Fundamentalist Christians do NOT accept any other religious beliefs as valid to theirs, so no difference here.

"Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five pillars of Islam and the Quran (Koran)."

And of the American Fundamentalist...Scripturally NO because his allegiance is to the Ten Pillars of
Christianity, which they tend to modify according to the need, and the Bible, which is neither always historically accurate nor inerrant, no matter what they say! There is nothing in America that says you have to be a Bible believing Christian to be a true American. It is freedom of religion here...all religions. If Fundamentalists have their way, we might all want to amend the Bill of Rights to say "freedom FROM religion."

"Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca, to which he turns in prayer five times a day."

And of the American Fundamentalist...Geographically No because his mental allegiance is to Jerusalem, Israel and the Holy Land at least twice a week, about which they talk all the time as if they have ever been there, know the real history of, or think they would be welcome. Millions of Christian Americans have a soft spot for Rome too...

"Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews."

And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Socially NO because his allegiance to Christianity forbids him to make friends with "the world" (love not the world, neither the things that are in the world, whoever loves the world, the love of the father is not in him.") Paul cursed the Jews in the New Testament, and hoped they'd cut their private parts if they wanted to be circumcised. Martin Luther , a Christian, taught they should be killed like pigs. Lots of places in NT tell the church to have no relationships outside the church. including not being "unequally yoked with unbelievers."

"Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullah (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and Destruction of America, the great Satan."

And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Politically No because he must submit to the ministry, ( "obey those that have the rule over you, {ministers}, for they watch out for your souls"). Many Fundamentalist Christians teach and hope for the annihilation of everyone outside of Israel. Christians often attribute anything against them as of the Great Satan Christian fundamentalists call Roman Catholicism, the Great Whore, so don't sweat someone calling America or Washington the Great Satan.
Paul cursed anyone who did not believe his true gospel and called the people of Crete, liars. Jesus is said to have said the Pharisees were "of your Father the Devil." Name calling envoking the name of Satan to define the enemy is a fundamentalist art form. It's what you do when you are afraid of the unknown.

"Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34)."

And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Domestically no because a fundamentalist Christian is instructed to marry only one which is his property, but cannot talk in church and can only ask her husband bible questions at home. A christian believes if you "beat (spank)a child with a rod, it won't kill him." Fundamentalist Christian women are to keep silence in the church, obey their husbands as unto the Lord, and call him "Lord" as did Sarah (all in NT). They are to give him sex as a part of her duty and submit. The Koran and the Bible sprang from the same culture, which few Fundamentalist Chrsitians realize or think about. In many respects the Taliban are to the Koran what the Fundamentalist Christians are to the Bible. PS...Lots of Fundamentalist Christian men abuse their wives with the word.

"Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt."

And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Intellectually no, because he can't accept that the American Constitution was NOT predicated on founding fundamentalist, Old Covenant believing Fathers. I would not use the word "intellectual" with Christian fundamentalists either, as critical thinking or the examining of evidence that runs contrary to their established belief system is not encouraged. This was called the Dark Ages in the European past.

"Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist."

And of the Christian Fundamentalists...Philosophically no because Christianity, Jesus and the Bible do not allow freedom of religion if you take the Old and New Testaments as the only way to be or literally enforceable in our culture today. Fundamentalists look to the commands of "God" in the Old Testament, to kill unbelievers, just as much as they think Islamics do in reading the Koran. Fundamentalist would only tolerate Christian values, which can be atrocious at times, and morality, which can be appalling. True Democracy and Biblical Christianity cannot co exist either. Someone would insist on someone else losing their rights to free thought. "My Kingdom is not of this world, if my kingdom was of this world, then would my servants fight," said Jesus in Matthew. No military solutions were encouraged by Jesus unless there was only one sword per 12 disciples allowed. Turn the other cheek, Love your enemies, don't slay them. Christian Fundamentalism is a good example of the mess you get when you mix Old Testament politics with New Testament sentiments, thinking it takes both to make up a proper Christian text. It's old wine in new wineskins.

"Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic."

And of the Christian Fundamentalist...Every Christian Fundamentalist government is either dictatorial or autocratic too. This statement shows the ignorance of whoever made it up. The Christian Kings of Europe didn't do to badly in the dictatorial or autocratic department, and might we mention the Popes?

"Spiritually - no. Because when we declare "one nation under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names."

And of the Christian Fundamentalists...Spiritually no because the God and Jesus of the Book of Revelation drowns the world in blood, plagues, signs, trumpets, vials and slaughter. The Christian Jesus is loving but no one does what he really says as it really is too hard. The Christian God the father is absent mostly, but is angry, jealous, and is patterned after the war gods of paganism every bit as much. I suggest a good read of Karen Armstrongs. History of God. The Fundamentalist Christian God is 'loving" only to the degree you obey and fall in line. If not, you are toast just as with any other "god" The Jesus of the Gospels is NOT the same being in the book of Revelation. The fundy Jesus comes back with a Rod of Iron to threaten and beat the poop out of those that don't obey and love God #1 the father and God # 2 himself...we won't get into God #3. Monotheism is basically divisive by nature, even if the one God is three, co-this and co-that.

"Therefore after much study and deliberation.... perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both "good" Muslims and good Americans. Call it what you wish.... it's still the truth."

And of Christian Fundamentalists..Therefore after much study and deliberation..perhaps we should all be very suspicious of ALL, and I Mean ALLLLLLLL Christians in this country. They obviously can't be both good Christians and Good Americans. Call it what you will, it's still the truth.

Side note: Whoever actually came up with this ignorant and insane list of reasons why an Islamic cannot be a good American is deluded, ignorant, self absorbed, mistaken, misinformed and the reason we'll end up with nothing but a sanitation problem to fix and where will we be then? Actually they are FunnyMentalists, which was nicely coined by someone recently.

"If you find yourself intellectually in agreement with the above statements, perhaps you will share this with your friends. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future."

Actually if you find yourself in agreements with the above statements about why a Muslim cannot be a good American, you will have to also conclude that neither can a good Christian fundamentalist be one.

The Sin of Silence

There is nothing louder than absolute silence. In perfect stillness does not the whisper of the mind scream so deafeningly? Perhaps there is no better moment in which one is able to reflect upon his life; to ponder its meaning and purpose. As each day ends, in the stillness of the night we wrest with the questions, "What is my destiny? What is my purpose in the earth for which I was born? Did I do everything I could do to the best of my ability today?" Reflection forces many of us to admit defeat. Today, we find ourselves guilty of the sin of silence. T.F. Tenny teaches that to commit murder in the desert is to know where the water is, but tell no one about it.

Basically, God is looking for us to serve Him in three ways: as a wife (bride of Christ), as a worker, and as a witness.

Wife - the good wife comes from the fact that Christians are the bride of Christ. Christ expects His bride to be pure (avoid the things of the world that would defile us) and chaste (not flirting with the world or running after other loves). That's easy to understand. These are the same things you want of your husband or wife. When we violate God's rules in marriage we come to the big "D's" (and I don't mean Dallas!)-disgrace, disease, debt, dishonor, and divorce.

Worker- a good worker is someone who comes to work on time every day; gives an honest day's work for an honest day's pay; and does his job without complaining. These are simple ideas that should apply to your place of employment as well as your place of worship.

Witness- witnessing is not throwing someone in a corner and making them believe as you believe. Witnessing is simply telling people the difference Christ has made in your life. Sharing answered prayers should be as natural as sharing an exciting news item from the newspaper. Sharing your love for Christ should be as easy as sharing your devotion to the Gamecocks or the Tigers. It's simple to witness when Christ is the main focus of your life. As Charles Templeton puts it, "Christianity does not remove you from the world and its problems; it makes you fit to live in it, triumphantly and usefully." Are you fit to live and ready to die?

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience... Peter 3:15-16 NKJV

Don't be guilty of the sin of silence.

The Amazing Power of Personal Prayer

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 & 3 Nephi 14:7-8

What do I pray for?

ANYTHING!

So long as it is good, you can pray for anything! The well being of your friends and family, to find a job, to pass exams, for health, wealth, safety, comfort, inspiration, direction, to find a partner, more intelligence, more love, to receive answers to questions you are unsure of.
The list really is endless. Prayer is also the perfect opportunity to express gratitude!
You can gain anything you need from prayer, and the best thing is its free and lines are open 24/7.

How do I pray?

If you have never prayed before, don't worry, today is a good day to start. Whether you believe in God or not, you can still pray. All world religions teach some form of prayer. I know many people who do not believe in God but sometimes when they have nowhere else to turn they resort to prayer. Prayer is available to everyone and is effective always.

1. Step one is to ADDRESS who are praying to. A Christian may say Dear god. A Muslim may call upon Allah. It's different for different people. For me, I have always used "Dear Heavenly Father". It is down to you though, whatever feels comfortable.

Before posting a letter, you would need to write a name and address first, otherwise the chances of your communication being received by that whom you intended it for, would be very slim. The same principle applies for prayer.

2. Step two is to THANK. Be grateful, list and thank for all the things which you have received already. If you do not feel you have anything, start off small. Look around you, your bed is a comfortable place to sleep; do you take that for granted? Not everyone has a warm bed to sleep in at night. Your mobile phone perhaps? Pretty handy, you can stay in touch with people who may be miles away. A book you have been reading, a friend who gave you good advice, a stranger who smiled, again the list is endless. What will happen is your eyes will suddenly be open to how much you do already have!

If someone had supplied you with many gifts, surely you would say thanks, before you asked for more? Of course you would, with this done and an attitude of gratitude in your heart you are ready to ask for more.

3. Step three is to ASK. Don't be shy! Ask for what you need. The universe is made of abundance. There is enough for everyone. Whatever it is you desire, it's out there already, waiting for you to make your claim. If its answers you need, there is someone who knows and is ready to supply the answer. If it's an opportunity, one will open up.

Pray on behalf of others and all the things they stand in need of too.

4. End the prayer. Some say amen. For me, I say "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen"
But again, I am not here to preach, it's your choice, just make sure you end the prayer in faith and a spirit of expectancy.

TIPS TO REMEMBER

Believe! Believe that your prayer is being heard and will be answered.

Pray every day! Morning and night. Pray as and when new situations arise.

Keep a prayer in your heart consistently.

If you get the urge, do It and do It Now! Trust your instincts, if you feel something prompting you to pray, just go with it, even you don't understand why at the time.

If you feel a resistance to pray, fight it! Do it anyway, you will feel glad you did.

As well as your prayers, practice autosuggestion. Autosuggestion is a form of informal prayer.

Meditate. Especially when seeking answers. Listen out for the answers. They will come, I assure you. Ponder the meaning of your answers.

Pray out loud

Pray in private. Let your inner most thoughts and feelings be known. Sometimes a solitary, quiet place outside or just your bedroom is fine.

If you are feeling skeptical, just try it what do you have to lose? I am confident, that you will discover that it works.

I know praying works. I have had it work many, many times, too often to number.

The Importance of Women's Spirituality

A friend recently asked me why I felt it was so important to focus specifically on spirituality for women. Isn't the point of spirituality, she asked, to move to an understanding that transcends distinctions like gender? Does it really serve the process, she wondered, to imply there is a separate spirituality for men and for women?

As part of my response, I referred her to a recently published book called Taking Back God: American Women Rising Up for Religious Equality. The author, Leora Tanenbaum, explores the role of women within Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The author interweaves religious history with interviews of contemporary women who care deeply about their religions, and derive great knowledge and sustenance from them, but are unhappy with the restricted roles of women within them. Many of these interviews are very moving, because these women have really struggled with this issue.

One of the biggest problems for these women is the restrictions placed on their access to teachings and official roles. Many of their religions restrict women's rights or abilities to read certain scriptures, or to teach or preach. Since scriptures are often considered the word of God, or a conduit to enlightenment (in the East), this sends the message that women are 'further' from God or enlightenment, and that they don't have the right to communicate directly, or to learn, teach, or preach on their own. They have to get everything secondhand. Contemporary American women don't accept this in the office, and are increasingly uncomfortable with it in their houses of worship.

While Taking Back God focuses on the official role of women in Christianity, Judaism and Islam, things aren't altogether different in the New Age or self-help communities, or in many Buddhist or Yoga centers. Although there are more women spiritual teachers, authors, and religious leaders in America than elsewhere in the world, they are still vastly outnumbered by men (just check out the Amazon bestsellers list). This despite the fact that according to book marketing surveys, women outnumber men as the purchasers of spiritual and religious books by as much as 4 to 1. In other words, women would appear to be more interested in spirituality in general, but the majority of books, teachers, organizations and resources out there are male-dominated. What is the message sent by this?

So, my answer to my friend, the reason focusing on women's spirituality is important to me, even though I am wary of over-identifying with gender issues, is that I think it really matters how many women religious leaders and spiritual teachers there are out there. And I think full access to scriptures, and leadership roles, and teaching positions - within every tradition - is imperative. Women's access to spirituality, their relationship with God/Tao/Nirvana/Brahma (or whatever you believe in), can't be secondhand. In a way, changing this is the most essential form of change that can occur, because our spiritual and religious beliefs define our organizational view of the world. If we see women as 'lower down' the totem pole, even subconsciously, we are denying ourselves our full power.

Great Video For Opening Your Christian Minds

I was reading a book on advertising when the author mentioned, "All Advertising Is about Hope."

This got me thinking about other people's dreams and aspirations, most of this is wrapped around them hoping to accomplish something or do something. I never gave it much thought but hope is one of the most important things in our lives. Some people go around hoping that they will keep their job, when the economy is in bad shape. Others go around hoping for forgiveness for their sins or other bad deeds they have done in the past.

What is it you're hoping for? There's got to be something. Are you hoping to become a multimillionaire or even the world's first trillionaire. Are your dreams big or small? Are you the kind of person who is happy living a simple life with very little possessions like a Buddhist monk or are you one who is seeking the lifestyle of the King.

Hope supplies us with the will to continue through hopeless obstacles during our lifetime.

Most people seeking hope are looking for a way out of something or a way toward a better life. These people often fall easy prey to large religious organizations, as they take them under their wing and slowly start to brainwash them. They seek the weak minded, helpless, poor and trusting people and build their organizations using them. I once believed in Christianity, but it no longer offers me true hope, the more I study Christianity and other organized religions, I noticed certain similarities based on inspiration.

I hope I live the good life, so I can go to heaven, the promised land, our ultimate enlightenment.

I hope I am living the true will according to God, Buddha, Krishna or other supreme beings.

I hope that the Bible is wrong about the 144,000 people from the 12 tribes.

I hope I'm living a life that is pleasing to the Lord.

If you're part of an organized religion, ask your religious leaders, any questions that you have about your religion. If they can't answer these questions, try to find them on your own. Books, videos, and the Internet are great sources for information. If you're living your life for the sole purpose of going to heaven one day, you could be disappointed, when that day arrives.

Ask a couple of questions and I hope you will get honest answers to them.

Placing God Under Arrest

If in the passages referring to the trials of Jesus one substitutes the title "God" in place of His name, the result is striking. John 18:12 becomes:

"Then the detachment of troops and the captain and the officers of the Jews arrested God and bound God. And they led God away to Annas..."

You get the idea. God was in Christ. Jesus said, "I and My Father are one." John says, "The Word was God."

The thought of puny man being given the opportunity to control his Creator is at once startling and sickening. But, yes, God is still being arrested and tormented in our own day. Totalitarian governments have unknowingly placed the Deity in custody countless times. For Jesus promised to come to His disciples in the form of His Spirit. The church is truly the very body in which the Lord of Creation lives in our day. The house of God. To arrest church members is to arrest God Almighty.

We want them to be set free so desperately. But all of our prayers cannot be directed to "Get them out of there! " for Jesus suffers willingly for the people of earth. Those that he uses to suffer are those that he makes similarly willing.

So we also say, "Lord give them grace while they are there. May they faithfully bear their cross without complaining. May they in fact be faithful until death, for we know You have said we will never be tested above what we are able to bear."

And after we finish such prayers, we look in a mirror and see if there is a cross on our own back.

http://chosunhouse.com is a website I put together a few months back to get the word out to believers that they need to pray for North Korea. Just about every day I'm writing a blog featuring some news, a book, or a story of North Korea. There's a live news feed on the site, lists of resources, picture essays, and ways to respond to the overwhelming need in North Korea. Let's love Chosun together!

And who am I? A man found of God over 50 years ago, called to the ministry, serving the Lord as needed in my world. Married, member of a local church in the Chicago area, with full time work in public education. Who are you? Would love to fellowship with believers who respond on my site.

Are You Sure About Your Salvation?

Romans 3:23 ; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; The consequence of our human sin is eternal separation from God. God is the only source of life so eternal separation from Him results in eternal death.

However, God has made us a promise...the promise of salvation.

I know that today could be the beginning of a life you have never experienced before...and an excellent one at that ;-)

In the Bible, the word 'salvation' means being saved from eternal death and experience peace with God and live forever with Him.

A lot of people know the verse In John 3:16 which tells us that by us believing in Jesus Christ we can have salvation and eternal life.

'For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have life eternal - John 3:16 (NIV).

I'd like to break down this scripture to give you a better understanding of it's truth...

'For God so loved the world...'
The 'world' refers to every single person on earth. God really loves you.

'...that He gave His one and only Son...'
This verse shows just how much God loves us. So much so that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for our sins when He died for us on the cross. When Jesus died He said "It is finished" (John 19:30). He meant that He had done absolutely everything that was needed for our salvation.

The Lost Church

The Lost Church. In the Times of the End.

In todays world we see many, Members, Clergy and Ministers, who have lost their first love and have gone after strange spirits. Many have lied, manipulated and deceived their congregations and each other. Saying that righteousness is within the individual. We see this change has come upon many that say they are Christs but denigh the very Father that Sent Him. De-nighing the Son is De-nighing the Father.

Rev 3:15-17; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: These are those that are lost within themselves, believing that they are righteous and just, but cannot justify themselves before God.
The Blind leading the Blind.

When you go within a Church, you must question the doctrine that is being taught, if they say its all right and not to worry, Leave and seek out another. We must be vigilant to the doctrine that is being taught so that we are not out of the will and laws of God.
Jesus stated of man made doctrine; Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. From Smiths Dictionary we see a few definitions that I wish to expound upon. Another quality in leaven is noticed in the Bible, namely, its secretly penetrating and diffusive power. In this respect it was emblematic of moral influence generally, whether good or bad; and hence our Saviour adopts it as illustrating the growth of the kingdom of heaven in the individual heart and in the world at large: because

(1) its source is from without;

(2) it is secret in its operation;

(3) it spreads by contact of particle with particle;

On the Hypocritical Side we see;
(1) its source is from without;

This is man made doctrine. A doctrine is a rule of conduct among Church Believers not necessarily Church members, and yes there is a difference. What is man made doctrine? A doctrine may be true or false; it may be a mere tenet or opinion.(Webster.) I'm going to use the definition, Opinion. When a man of God starts using his own opinion on the validity of any scripture in the Bible, he has erred from the faith. For example, Calling any earthly man, Father., Ordaining a woman to any position that usurps authority over a man, I.E. Priest, Deacons, Pastors, etc. Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. Any source used, by any minister of the Gospel, that is contrary to sound doctrine must be removed from the Church and never taught. Just because a man says that He believes in Jesus doesn't necessarily mean that that person is saved. Jam 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

(2) it is secret in its operation;

Simulation; a feigning to be what one is not; or dissimulation, a concealment of one's real character or motives. More generally, hypocrisy is simulation, or the assuming of a false appearance of virtue or religion; a deceitful show of a good character, in morals or religion; a counterfeiting of religion. To be able to deceive many have used words to attack what we know is to be the truth. Many will use the word; Phraseology, to hide their lack of wisdom and knowledge. Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

There is a concealment of their true motives. Their good character may hide deep dark secrets, as we have seen over the years, Jim Jones, David Koresh, The Bakers, and lately Hager. Websters speaks of motives as; That which incites to action; that which determines the choice, or moves the will. Thus we speak of good motives, and bad motives; strong and weak motives. The motive to continue at rest is ease or satisfaction; the motive to change is uneasiness, or the prospect of good.
We must questions many of the motives that are being introduced upon the Church. Many of these motives are easy to see but many more are being hid in the use of the Gospel. Examples of this are in many televangelist broad casts. When anyone preaches Hell Fire and Brimstone, stating the world will end soon, then ask you for your money to build their own glory upon this earth, there is something wrong. The slight of hand and the slight of a word here and there, is a red flag that all should recognize.

(3) it spreads by contact of particle with particle;

The strong and the week, the wise and the unwise. Many eating from the alter of the burnt sacrifice and those that don't. I shall eat no meat if it offends my brother, the weak. 1Co 8:10 -13; For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

In 1Co 8:10 -13, we see another example of the Blind leading the Blind, we also see a warning. The lost Church, in these end days, according to Christ and Prophecy will and is, turning their back on sound doctrine and turning toward the sinful elements of society, as to not offend nor cause an uproar among the people. Many Churches have become afraid of the elements of Satan that try to infiltrate the body of the Church. The best example of this today is equal rights for homosexuals. What a man does outside the Church is one thing but to say that their lifestyle has a right to be recognized as righteous within the Church is another.

Sinners and the lost are welcome within the Church, but their membership in the Church, their Salvation and calling, must be based on the Laws of God and not the opinion of the A.C.L.U. Nor the laws of man. We will all give account of our actions. The Bible tells us in Phi 4:6, Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God., we are to be bold and steadfast in our profession of faith.

Eph 4:13-14; Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Rev 3:9-10; Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. The Church's that are upon the rock, must start coming together as one, no more fighting after man made doctrine, no more being afraid of prophecy, no more being afraid of laws and lawyers, that have not the truth in them, no more being afraid of world opinion, no more being afraid of Satan.

We must all stand together, Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, and all the rest. The lost Church isn't truly lost just confused. The Lost Church must remove their self interest and seek out the will of God concerning the Church. The rich Churches must help the poor, those with knowledge must share that knowledge, without seeking payment, and those that build grand temples must go back to the time of innocence. For every thing we see is temporal and not eternal, it will all burn and decay. Ars.
